Quest Hunt 21 July 2007

Hello everyone. I'm sure all of you who came remember the wonderful time we had at the Botanical Gardens doing the wonderfully planned Quest Hunt on the 21 July.

It was half-raining when we set out for the Botanic Gardens, the sky was gray and the place was rather humid - not exactly the theoratical ideal, but the in fact the ideal in practice for running about the area like mad chickens looking for leftover corn.

Anyway, 9 people showed up [Aaron, Abner, Wei Li, Dong Shen, Yong Shen, Michelle, Boon Ling, Tom and Dorcas(who was late because of archery practice and do so beg your pardon)]. Aaron decided the area to meet was to be at the Bandstand. Which, although seemed quite 'findable' on the map, was not so much in practice due to the overwhelming flora and fauna - in other words, some people got lost.

We started out of the 3rd quest first, which was the search for statues located in the Botanic Gardens and take pictures with them. After lots of running around (at least for one group), the group 1 consisting of Dong Shen, Yong Shen and Tom beat group 2 consisting of Abner, Wei Li, Michelle and Boon Ling. [You should have got them running, Abner]

After a short water and breathing break, the two groups embarked on the next two quests (1 and 2 actually), with the addition of Dorcas to group 1. This time, quest 1 required the groups to locate several items in different places in the Botanic Gardens and (again) take pictures with said items. Quest 2 required of them to go to several places and find information to fill in the blanks of several questions.

After a long, long while (due to the distance from the places to the bandstand - YES, GO AHEAD, TORTURE US AARON!). The groups returned, sweating like polar bears in the Tropics. Again, group 1 won over group 2 for both quests - in fact, group 2 only managed to do quest 3, while group 1 managed to do both quests. (Told ya you should have got them running, huh, Abner?)

And after the prize presentation, with the prizes being as usual, lots of nice snacks (we should make a change one day... hmm...). We departed after a short rest, and went home merrily with new memories to take home with us.^^

Don't you wish the rest of you guys came? ^^

Youth meeting 8 Jul - What is Christianity to me

We had an enjoyable time, with food and fellowship during our youth meeting on Sunday, 8 July. A total of 9 people were present, 4 youths (I still count myself youth haha) 3 adults, and 2 soon to be youth.

The meeting place was a last minute decision, when we decided to proceed to Delifrance, Chinatown Point. It was an excellent setting for just a good meal and a good chat. Thank God for providing us an ideal place.

After everyone made it there, we ordered our meal. When the food arrived, we 'officially' started our youth meeting with prayer and thanks for the food. Then, we ate!!

After the main courses, we decided to have a game of 'I never'. We had a really fun time of sharing about each others' experiences. With the final sharing resulting in probably the best laugh of the day, eating cooked insects. (You've got to join us more to enjoy the really good laughs we have, it's worth it)

After our desert, we proceeded on to life sharing by our invited guests, the Tan family. Aunty Jessica began first, telling us about her life, from conversion till commitment. That was followed by Uncle Francis, on the same topic. They both gave exciting and enriching accounts of their lives, certainly engaging the audience and leaving them wanting more.

Finally, we closed with some sharing from the floor before we closed with a word of prayer. With the sky looking threatening as we left the restraunt, we then parted ways for our own homes.

Word of thanks to all those present for the youth meeting, specially making time to be present. For those who could not make it, you've got to come next time, the laughs we have are well worth it. Thanks also for the lunch treat (For the one paying of course).

Most importantly, thanks to God for once again being present, sharing in our joys and sorrows throughout this journey called life. Thanks also for the meeting place, for a time we never knew where we would go for the meeting. I also thank God that He has placed in my life people, mentors whom I can model my life after, who are really such an encouragement.

Next youth meeting: More outdoor fun as we are going treasure hunting in the botanical gardens. Do join us.
